Derby City Counseling
Welcome to Derby City Counseling located in Louisville, Kentucky. I’m glad you’re here. Whether you’re new to the world of therapy or you’re a seasoned veteran, my hope is that Derby City Counseling can be a home and safe haven for you. It’s very common to feel a little hesitant about therapy. That's totally understandable and you're not alone in that feeling. As a therapist, one of my primary goals is to break the negative stigma that surrounds going to therapy, because as human beings, sometimes we need a little help. Let's race toward a better you!
Meet Me
Hi, I’m Dillon. I’m a licensed therapist who works with adolescents and adults (ages 15+) who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. These patterns often show up in relationships, work, or inner dialogue (who doesn’t love ruminating on thoughts for hours on end?)

Many of my clients have spent a lot of time trying to understand why they feel the way they do, but want support turning that insight into real, lasting change. I believe meaningful change happens when self-awareness is paired with action.
My approach
My approach is active, supportive, and collaborative. This means I ask thoughtful questions, offer a nonjudgmental space, and partner with you to better understand patterns and create goals that feel meaningful to you.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), focusing on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—and how small, intentional shifts can make a meaningful difference. Therapy with me is laid back and conversational, while still being intentional and goal-oriented.
What sessions often look like
-
Early sessions focus on getting to know you and understanding what’s bringing you in
-
We begin identifying treatment goals within the first few sessions (and adjust them as we learn what’s actually helpful)
-
Sessions are conversational, with space for reflection and practical skills, pattern recognition, and next steps

Many clients notice subtle shifts early on—feeling more grounded, thinking more clearly, or responding differently in situations that once felt overwhelming. Deeper change tends to build over time through practice, reflection, and repetition.
Am I a good fit?
I commonly work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress/burnout, and questions related to identity, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ experiences. I aim to offer a space that feels thoughtful, respectful, and affirming—where you don’t have to edit or explain who you are.

You may be a good fit if you’re open to exploring patterns, curious about yourself, and interested in therapy that is structured, supportive, and focused on meaningful change (and can bring a sense of humor at times).
